Food Lion Introduces Spanish In-Store Sales Flyer
12/23/2002
SALISBURY, N.C. - Hispanic Food Lion customers will have an easier time locating weekly specials beginning January 1. The grocery store chain will introduce weekly in-store sales flyers printed in Spanish.

Approximately 490 Food Lion stores will offer the new Spanish flyer. Food Lion has advertised for several years in Spanish language newspapers and recently introduced bilingual signs in some stores. The new ad flyer is designed to make shopping more convenient for Food Lion's Hispanic customers.

"The new in-store ad is another way we can deliver the message of Food Lion's low prices and convenience to our Hispanic customers," said Mirna Franjul, Food Lion's category manager for specialty items. "We tested a Spanish flyer earlier this year, and the response was overwhelmingly positive."

The flyer will feature a combination of Food Lion's weekly sales items, MVP card specials, and authentic Hispanic products on sale.

"We will advertise traditional items from their native countries to let Hispanic customers know we carry a wide selection of authentic products at a low price," Franjul said. "We'll also tailor the ad to the traditional holidays observed by the Hispanic community. We want our Hispanic customers to know that we seek not only to communicate a sale, but we are also committed to celebrating with them their most-cherish times of the year."
